Eagleton, Thomas Francis
Eagleton, Thomas Francis (b. St Louis, Mo., 24 September 1929) He served as US senator (Democrat, Mo., 1969–86). Chosen as vice-presidential candidate with George McGovern, he resigned on 31 July 1972 after the press reported he had suffered from severe depression and received electric-shock therapy during 1960–6. Sargent Shriver replaced him.
