Giovanni Boccaccio
Giovanni Boccaccio (c. 1313-December 21, 1375) was an Italian author and considered the first great writer of prose in a modern language. His notable publications include The Decameron, a work that consists of 100 stories organized to give the impression of a total view of society. Boccaccio is also credited with writing the first Italian romance prose, Filocolo.
