Frederick Jackson Turner

Frederick Jackson Turner (November 14, 1861-March 14, 1932) was an American historian whose work greatly influenced his students, many of whom became prominent. He was famous for his theory that American democracy was a result of the frontier, which rewarded individualism. His work The Significance of Sections in American History, published in 1932, won the Pulitzer Prize for history the following year.
