American Romanticism

Romanticism focused on emotion, individualism, the wonder of nature, and the sublime. Prominent American Romantic authors include Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Edgar Allan Poe, Herman Melville, and Emily Dickinson.
