Lewis and Clark Expedition

Departing from St. Louis in 1804, Captains Lewis and Clark and a group of army volunteers, the Corps of Discovery, mapped a course across what is now the western United States. The expedition returned in 1806 with valuable information about the newly acquired Louisiana territory and a passageway to the Pacific Ocean. The following documents detail the trip from St. Louis to the Pacific coast and back.
