Hiroshima and Nagasaki Bombings

In an effort to end World War II, in August 1945 the United States dropped nuclear bombs on two cities in Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. An estimated minimum of 129,000 people were killed during the bombings, and only six days after the second bomb was dropped, Japan surrendered to the Allied Forces.
