Peter was one of Jesus Christ's original twelve apostles. He was among the fishermen who Jesus called out to and told he would make them fisher of men. He is considered to be the chief of Christ's Apostles and former of the Church of Rome. Tradition states that Peter's death was by inverted crucifixion and is buried under St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
