Battle of Marathon

Battle of Marathon
The Battle of Marathon was fought between the citizens of Athens and the soldiers of King Darius I, who wished to conquer Greece for the Persian Empire. The Athenian troops were able to overpower the dominant Persians with their bronze armor, shields, and spears. These documents describe this battle and its role in the Greco-Persian Wars.
