Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (August 27, 1770-November 14, 1831) was a German philosopher and writer. His works revolutionized European philosophy, as well as being an important precursor to Continental philosophy and Marxism. Hegel published four books during his lifetime: Phenomenology of Spirit (1807), his account of the evolution of consciousness from sense-perception to absolute knowledge; Science of Logic (1811), the logical and metaphysical core of his philosophy; Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences (1816), a summary of his entire philosophical system; and Elements of the Philosophy of Right (1820).
